Imagine a much friendlier internet, one where you only have to remember one password. A place where it’s easy to keep a tight grip on your personal contact information, deciding which websites have access to it and how much they’re allowed to know about you.

Yeah, usability for the average usage is what will cause OpenID to fail. I think that using a "url" for a login name is sort of stupid.
I think that using your email address would be a better way to do it..

Funny, the wired site doesn't allow openid for commenting either.....
