Don't forget to read the license for this "open source" product. Hundreds of lines.

the license is CPAL. what's the problem? a 2 minute web search would have showed you that it was (a) an OSI approved open source license and (b) that the entire project (including scheduling algorithms) are covered by it.
p.s. I'm not affiliated with the project, but I happily use (and browse the source) sometimes.

It's simply a good suggestion.

sure, always a good idea. but the 1st comment wasn't saying that. it was a sarcastic reply, indicating that the project wasn't really open source, hence the quotes.

I checked it on my Mac. It's ugly, but it works. My main question to the developers: why not base it on Eclipse RCP? it will be cross platform and it will be able to look itself in the mirror. :-)
In many aspects, a "Microsoft Project" clone.

yeah, it's ugly. the ocean look and feel is not easily changeable either -- i've done it but some of the widgets don't work properly / size well.
wouldn't take too much work though, and the source is fully available. i might try it again.
another product that is very good is "open workbench", which is notionally open source, although they haven't opened the scheduling algorithms. it's windows, but it runs very well under WINE also. looks better.

What a waste of an effort... duplicating project management tool that has been proven on every single project as irrelavant after the first meeting? Waterfall project management?

not sure where you've been -- every firm i've worked at in the last 10 years or more has used MS project to plan. Sure, it may not always be visible to the IT team who might use cards etc... Maybe not in tiny firms.
And anything that gets me off the MS paytrail (and in addition runs under linux also) is well worth it.

It would be neat to see this bundled into OpenOffice
