Overview of In-Memory Data Grid Technologies
A contributor to High Scalability has written up a nice overview about in-memory datagrids. These are in-memory application middleware products that provide high availability and scalability across a grid of servers. Some solutions will work across the WAN and/or from public like providers such as AWS. One product in the category, ScaleOut StateServer, provides integrated map/reduce for data analytics.
