One of the really big issues facing us, IMHO, is the new Javascript-driven ad technology called “floats”. They’re not separate windows popped up, they’re in-window divs that move up to obscure the web page and force the user to click to dismiss them.

Used correctly, they are a great feature of Web 2.0 development since you need not bring up a popup or post back to a new page. For example: Updating your password or profile information is much easier via a div that is floating rather than another page altogether.
