The new crop of HTML5 web browsers are capable of some pretty amazing things, and several of our engineers decided to take some 20% time to see how far we could push them. The result? An HTML5 port of Id's Quake II game engine!

It is not an April Fools joke. Like Gmail wasn't. On linux the build is not perfect, requiring a few minor intervetions, and the sound on Chromium for Linux does not seem to work on the game (even though the mp3 files are created and work normally outside the browser). But they request using nightly builds, some so rough edges is expected. But otherwise looks great.
