What they all boil down to, in effect, is that some people get immensely irritated because Rails does not conform to their idea of perfection. They have some specific requirement that Rails doesn’t support, and they post rants about how “they” (the rails core team) owes them to adapt Rails to their requirements, or how “rails sucks” because it doesn’t do exactly what they need out of the box.

Many great points, thanks.

Most, if not all, of those points could be applied to just about anything... like Java platform criticism by Ruby/Rails fans, for example. I think the "Rails sucks" reactions are a natural side effect of excessive hype about the product. There's no way it could live up to those expectations.

If you can't articulate your thoughts without sounding like a little passive aggressive bitch, should anyone take them seriously? If you gonna vent, then vent. Presenting your number one point as "Rails owes you nothing" is for people who have nothing else to say.
