These days it seems that everyone is trying to save money. Recession has hit a lot of people hard. Unemployment, wage freezes and budget cuts. Small and large companies are trying to find ways to cut their spending. Individuals are also saving so that they can get through the recession. One good way to save money for individuals and companies is to switch to Linux.

True but Windows 7 is available at no cost until March 1st 2010, or 9 months, or until the recession is over (hopefully).

Cost is not a good/wise reason for switching to linux.

yes the reason is Scala, Erlang, Clojure, AspectJ etc. These hav nothing to do with M$

Ah yes, but then you'll have to teach you employees the new OS, productivity will go down till they get the hang of it... not a good way out of the recession.

You *might* be able to save money in the long run. But switching to Linux isn't a good way to get short-term savings.

for startups and small companies, yes. but for large ones with older staff, no

Don't switch to Linux purely to save money - switch cos it's an awesome OS, and gives you the freedom to use your PC however you like. The free thing is all about freedom not $$$ (or lack of)

Can you just return all the windows you bought and get your money back?
