Having read a great variety of forum and blog posts, I met a lot of misconceptions about ASP.NET that definitely made people to turn away from ASP.NET. I won't argue whether ASP.NET is better than PHP (or Ruby on Rails) or not, instead I'll try to bust those myths.

Good points. Personally I like ASP.NET a lot: as a developer. There certainly are parts you should stay away from (the web controls) but a good developer can work wonders in ASP.NET
I still find myself sticking to PHP for my own projects, however. I like the flexibility of running PHP on both Windows and Unix, and the PHP/Unix combination is the easiest from a system administration viewpoint, if you've got a lot of sites and not a lot of staff.
