The db4o team reinforces its commitment to the open source community by upgrading their GPL license in an effort to stay compatible with the increasing number of GPLv3 adopters. Even though support will continue for the older license version GPLv2, the team hopes this move will inspire free software projects to go with GPL v3 when using db4o!

db4o is 'dual licensed'. GPL'd libraries are viral, i.e. unfair.

Not sure what you mean by GPL'd libraries are 'unfair'??

True that db4o is dual licensed. Many companies cannot use GPL and need a commercial license to take advantage of the technology. We've found this especially true in the financial industry. Anyway, db4o provides GPL for open source developers and a commercial license for others.
