If you write GWT code thinking about JavaScript, you've missed the whole point. Yes, it will become JavaScript at the end of the story, but if you choose GWT is because it offers something different.

Just write in Fantom instead. Then you also get the benefit of a much cleaner language/API:

I am sorry, I have to disagree. You may say that GWT doesn't target the JVM, yes. However its native language IS Java, and in addition supports Javascript too.
