A great story.
Unbelievable how stubborn people can be what concerns their habits. There's no reason for them to resist to polite update suggestion. It's almost certain they would not update their browser in 20 years unless they get forced to. So yes, cut support for old IE6, this will get things moving.

Digging around on the Microsoft site, they do have a pretty interesting alternative for developers, as documented on the IEblog wherein they suggest you download a copy of Virtual PC and a disk image for within VPC that includes WinXP+SP2 and IE6. Coolness.
