Kohana is a PHP 5 framework that uses the Model View Controller (MVC) architectural pattern. There are several reasons why you should choose Kohana but the main ones are security, weightlessness and simplicity.

Kohana is a good framework conceptually. However, here are two very important points for anyone considering web development using this framework:
1. The Kohana maintainers are very acerbic - some would say even rude - in their interactions with users on their forums. Take a look for yourself or do sign up and post. It isn't unusual to see RTFM or similar responses from their lead developers. Of course there are lazy users and people who ask questions without searching but when you offer up a community-driven project, there are many ways to deal with such situations.
2. A strict policy of the Kohana project is not supporting previous releases. Hence, when you have corporate dev teams having to relearn the framework every six to nine months, not to mention recode, that can become a real pain.
