Novell’s Mono project has been chasing Microsoft’s .NET Framework since its inception. In a turnabout, Novell now intends to standardize some innovations that it developed during the course of its work toward parity with .NET 2.0, leaving Microsoft to follow Mono.

novell should be contributing to a free technology not forking microsoft.net, making linux dependant of m$ technology (with their c# apps) and paying m$ to protect them against aknowledged (by novell) patent infrigements.

How is Linux dependent on Microsoft if the Mono implementation of .NET is open source? You might want to reconsider your logic to ensure it isn't tainted by dogma.
