This tutorial walks you through the steps of creating a program that requests the source code (HTML) of a webpage and then gives the user multiple options for viewing the web server's response. It uses the Winsock API to manipulate sockets on the system, and teaches you to create reusable code along the way.

Maybe it's just me, but this guy doesn't quite understand domain names. That isn't too bad, but that a C++ tutorial returns the address of the internal buffer of a temporary object is unforgivable.

There are unfortunately a number of bugs, some very serious in the code. There are also a number of style problems even though the author avoids some common ones.
I've written an email to the author of this article and hopefully he can correct them.
