I recently decided to work a bit outside of Visual Studio and configure a plain text editor to work with the C# compiler. It seemed to me like it would be a relatively easy task to add a specific compiler to Notepad++, but it needed some work, as Notepad++ has no specific wizard or dialog to directly configure a custom compiler, but rather just a Run box (found in the Run menu).

This shows that there is a problem with the PATH 'system' and it should be easier to use the C# compiler with the console.
