Congratulations to the winners of the JavaFX Coding Challenge: Sten Anderson, Naoaki Suganuma, and Evgeni Sergeev! The apps written by all three winners are oustanding, and 1st-place winner Sten Anderson's Music Explorer FX app is IMHO brilliant! Here's a screenshot from the app:

actually, i take it back. it's not just good -- it's superb. works under linux too.

A few observations, I miss my back button in these JavaFX aps - intuitively it would be nice if one could go back or undo.
I get Audio Player setTrackUrl error: MediaError: media unsupported:com.sun.media.jmc.MediaUnsupportedException: Unsupported media: http://love-my-oldies.freehomepage.com/music/JANET%20JACKON%20-%20ANYTiME,%20ANYPLACE.mp3 so I guess JavaFX does not support de-facto standard MP3 codec on Linux?
andrewm replied ago:
that's odd. i can play the janet jackson anytime track through the program on ubuntu. i wonder if jfx requires certain codecs to be loaded.
i don't know what package i have installed that has added this, though... when i previously wanted to rip some dvds (shhh!) i loaded a few codecs etc, perhaps that did it?

Really sluggish application. The search field did not have any blinking cursor.
Also, I got a security warning after downloading x amount of megabytes. I did click on Run but kind of felt bad about it, how do I know that this app wont mess with my system?

Everything seemed to work very smooth on my Linux machine except for playing clips. Overall, sweet app!
