Back in those days we had more respect for Kildall than Gates. A *lot* of hackers in those days had zero business sense--they were hackers, not businessmen. Their reward *was* the hack. The respect of their peers. The look on people's faces as they understood how it worked. In general, they didn't make the money, with a few notable exceptions.
