So basically if you don't keep your working copy up to date you might have problems / conflicts later? Duh! Seems like this is just a weak advert for their software.

Your statement is true for all source-controls, well, at least the ones that I know about.
Do you a source-control software that will automatically keep the developers up-to-date?

Well, I think the IDE I currently use (IntelliJ) already has the ability to monitor the repository for changes to tell you if you're out of date, but I don't use it. I think the responsibility of knowing the state of local code vs what's on the repository lies with the developer. YMMV ;)
