This is the claim made by RescueTime: Once you set it up, it will automatically, magically, track how you are using your time on your computer. For those who are serious about making the best possible use of their time, this Web 2.0 application sounds like a dream come true.

flawed idea - if I'm developing for the web, is my time on IE/FF a "work" time or a "play" time?

Might be a TAD premature to call the idea flawed. We're a bunch of web geeks building a web application-- rest assured that we allow granularity within browsing. As far as RescueTime is concerned, a web site and an app aren't substantively different. You'll be able to tag individual web sites as "work", "play", or anything else that tickles your fancy. ;-)
