Once upon a time there were two graphical OS: Geoworks and Windows. But something was lacking in Geoworks: A spreadsheet application. People don’t remember this anymore especially Geeks (amazingly it’s very difficult to find a trace of Geoworks vs Windows history except this one in year 2000!). They can’t also remember that People in Enterprise at the very beginning of the PC, were ordering a PC it just because of Visicalc the first spreadsheet ever conceived.

Linux in desktop could never catch up to Windows but never say never everything in one instant can turn around. Im open for many options, I use Linux for server and embedded, Windows for Dektop, Mac as a hobby.

Sure Linux is meant for server. I use Linux for Webhosting. I meant Desktop only since I'm talking about User especially Business User.

Guys, we are not in '97 when Linux was only for server! Linux is already having it share from the DESKTOP market and it's growing constantly.

Well I would be happy, I'm not against Linux, I'm against lack of objectivity. I have long kept saying IE was better than Firefox until Firefox stabilizes. Now I'm saying Firefox is better than IE. So I will be ready to say Linux is better than Windows when I will have objective facts for that. I don't care much about the stats, but since you mentioned it, I query Google and from what I read here:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13505_3-9910263-16.html

"Linux went from 1.25 percent in May of 2007 to 2.02 percent in March of 2008. That is 61.6 percent increase in market share in nine months. [Put another way,] that is 82 percent annual growth in installed computers."

61.6% from ... 1% : reminds me of gov or media trick, stats never lie of course :)
