I believe that the AJAX/DHTML model is broken...at least for widespread adoption. Here I explain why lack of standards and huge fragmentation is killing widespread adoption of browser based rich UIs.

So you say, DHTML/Ajax "model" is broken, just because you think there are more Flash developers out there. It's lame.

This posting was dated September 2008, yet contained phases like: "Macromedia isn't going anywhere". Then goes on to talk about all the Flash developers - which pretty much seemed to imply that ActionScript kiddies that create the horrible ad graphics that litter web pages these days.

Has this person totally missed out on Flex 2, Flex 3, and ActionScript3 that came about after Macromedia got bought out by Adobe? It's really weird to see pejorative postings (in this case what is really an anti-Flash posting) that read like they're five years outdated with respect to what they're slighting.

The Flex 3 SDK coupled with the MXML/ActionScript3 language make for a programming model that stands heads and shoulders above these JavaScript frameworks, whether GWT, Ext, jquery, DoJo, prototype, etc. So it's really weird to see someone express a longing to go from a really great programming model and platform to something that pales in comparison.

Which brings me back to my original perplexity - why do the comments pertaining to Flash seem like they're five years out of date?
