Possibly among the best Software Dev books written. Not because it's Ruby, but because it's so well written. Flanagan's JavaScript book is equally good, albeit a little too thick. In both cases I was astonished by how the writing style comfortably channels information into your head in such an efficient way. You feel like you've learned something after every page. Well done to all of the authors, and even the diagrams offer a uniquely fun element of style to the book. Good job.
