If you have ever wondered of alternatives to Cordova (a.k.a. PhoneGap) for bringing your HTML5 web app to the device, look no further than Titanium4j (Ti4j for short). Ti4j is a Java binding for Appcelerator's Titanium framework, which allows you to do precisely that: eliminate Cordova out of the equation and use Titanium as the underlying mechanism for native hardware access. The article shows some pros and cons over each approach. In an upcoming blog post we'll show how you can run a Lienzo-based app natively thanks to Titanium4j. Moral of the story: with Ti4j you have another, arguably simpler, alternative for taking your HTML5 mobile app to the device.
