The benchmark listed below confirms Satoris for JRuby to have the lowest performance measurement overhead on the market at just under 150 nanoseconds for a metered method invocation and under 15 nanoseconds for a non-metered instrumented method invocation. Compared with the significant overhead introduced by NewRelic RPM, at over 18 microseconds, Satoris is anywhere between 100 and 1,000 times more efficient, depending on the adaptive thresholds set. Because Satoris hooks directly into the JRuby runtime, it is even more efficient than simply calling Time.now from within Ruby code.
