Who would have thought that the same problem patterns that we know from distributed enterprise applications also apply to the mainframe? A research project showed how to analyze and optimize unnecessary DB2 calls in order to save CPU Cycles and with that money on the mainframe. It also showed how to find inefficient ways of Java/.NET Enterprise applications calling into the mainframe. In this blog we cover the "manual" approach that this research describes as well as show how this can all be automated.
