The computer industry loves surveys. Whether it's because of the inherently technical nature of the profession, the Druckerism that what you can't measure you can't manage, or some traces of 19th century Taylorism, there's this fascination with finding out how people really feel, through what appears to be a scientific method. The problem is, a lot of industry surveys are crap. Sharon Fisher shows you how to read industry survey results to determine their validity.
