"Of course, one might argue that EJB and Spring are not competitors"
Of course not. That's merely what the SpringSource marketing department (a.k.a. Rod Johnson) is trying to sell to naive Java coders.

When you quote someone, it is polite to at least quote an entire sentence. Not just the part that suits you. FYI, here's the whole sentence: "Of course, one might argue that EJB and Spring are not competitors on all fronts."

Where are the 'fronts'? Which parts of Spring compete with which parts of EJB? Where are the Spring Application Servers? Where is the Spring middleware (implementations, not wrappers)? Where are the
Spring specifications (not the products)?

While you are at it -
"Of course, one might argue that EJB and Spring are not competitors on all fronts. However, they are competitors on most fronts. "
"Not ... on all fronts" followed by "most fronts".

So you're saying that there is no competition whatsoever between EJB and Spring?
