Hundreds of books and blogs and websites tell you that you should read a graphical execution plan from right to left, which seems completely backwards to newcomers who are used to reading books and magazines from left to right. When Microsoft designed the layout, did they just do it backwards by mistake? That's doubtful. Why is a plan presented in this seemingly backward manner?
