This article describes a newly discovered phenomenon in IT industry when software vendors are significantly increasing the price of their products in order to differentiate from "low-level" solutions. Additional income obtained as a result of such overpricing is invested in specific promotion supporting the illusion of difference. While such policy appears to be profitable for software vendors, it is deluding customers urging them to pay 10 times more for the same products and services. From the technical point of view the only difference of such "hi-level" solutions is the price and amount of marketing buzz behind them.
