I've interviewed many candidates and I'd say maybe 25-50% lie about their skill set. It's a ridiculous waste of time. One guy put JavaScript and AJAX on his resume. When asked about it he said he used JS for validation on a website but couldn't remember any of it, and he cut and paste a little AJAX code from somewhere but heard it was bad for performance. This was for a senior dev interview. Another guy listed every language and framework used in the projects he worked on whether he knew anything about them or not. It's so obvious to an interviewer whether or not you know anything about a topic that's on your resume, its just not worth it. A single exploratory question will blow you out of the water. Don't do it. I actually love it when a candidate has the integrity to say "I'm sorry I'm not familiar with that.", and bonus points if they ask for more info or an explanation.
