How delusional is it for "little league" player to step on the field of "major leage" playoff?
The thing is hard to deploy for end users even in 1 year beata, and silverlight is already shipping and deployable.

How do developers get end users?

Poor Sun, missed the opportunity originally by not following through on applets and now a second time, by announcing/releasing vapourware way too late. It's thought provoking that here 12-13 years after, it's Javascript that's in each and every browser rather than Java.

SUN wake the freak up !!!! You know as a Java developer I am getting so tired of the mis-opportunities Java has all the time. First off, Java in the browser is DEAD!!! DEAD!!! Firefox still crashes every once in a while when trying to use the Java plugin. And I am a freaken JAVA developer saying this!! I actually cringe when i see the plugin starting. Please SUN, Please, Please I beg you, spend your time and energy moving Java into new territory. How about a Java Cloud Version, which spawns VMs across machines as needed. Or how about killing JSP and coming up with something better but simple that could be used in multi-tenant environments easily. Anything but give up the browser crap already.

Who cares about Silverlight? What about Adobe's Flex/Air?

True 'nuf, I've not tried Air yet, but I've been investigating Flex for about a week now, and the ONLY thing I've been at all disappointed with is that it doesn't have easy predigested support for keyboard shortcuts/mnemonics, whatever you want to call them. I want JavaFX to be terrific, but this Flex thang is doing just fine for me now.
