Poor Schwartz and lots of intelligent and innovative Sun people, but this is it, the Sun sets. Good bye Sun and thanks for the innovation as Java and lots of OpenSource projects all this years.

Now, Oracle, drive good Java, MySQL et al or you will loose the ecosystem.

With sun, we feel that the open source is given for us because it must be, it was a core of innovation & R&D a lot of developers were around it (Sun) and still, but really what will happen to all those young developers which meet the java as the first language they knew, what will happen to our javanet. glassfish and to JSF.

Oracle CAO is enough smart to let down sun community because it can turn quickly to a new technology or Microsoft Techno (Who know?)

Neither JAVA nor SUN is an acronym. It's "Java" and "Sun".

SUN stands for Stanford University Network. Yes, it's an acronym.

Historically maybe. But look at their site... they spell it "Sun". It is no longer an acronym. Their trademark is "Sun".

Your argument would have us all spelling LASER in all caps as well.

Who cares if is SUN or Sun it is already dead, Why dispute on something that is irrelevant.

LOL... let's all reduce our standards to spelling everything historical incorrectly. :-) Really though, it was a simple point. It was targeted at the article, not anyone in particular. They spell Java, "JAVA", which is as annoying as people writing "MicroSoft"... Just a pet peeve.
