Microsoft has been busy baking new tools, offering tasty but not-quite-fully-cooked technology at Tech·Ed 2006. While there's plenty of new information about existing products, developers will particularly welcome upcoming capabilities in ADO.NET vNext, .NET Framework 3.0, Windows PowerShell, and Office 2007.

I wish I was in Boston to chck out Tech-d. I hear it's a pretty amazing show. Oh well, maybe next year.

powershell looks cool, and I've been playing with the Office 2007 beta which is ... well, interesting. At least it includes managed class libraries to work with Office objects; A big improvement over previous versions of office. The new UI is finicky and will take some time to get used to, but I think they are in the right mind of categorizing various functions of their software. I wrote about it briefly on my blog: http://develnet.blogspot.com
