To be honest, if we were comparing a language like Ruby to C# 1.0, released not so long ago in 2002, we would be long gone. C# started out feeling like a boring Java clone but Microsoft have spent 8 years maturing it with surpisingly good taste. This is not the same language we had 8 years ago and if you haven't been paying attention it's time to take another look.
