Wicket seems to be a good framework for Intranet (inhouse) Web-Applications.

Wicket is good for any kind of web applications. It scales very well and is pretty fast comparing to other java web frameworks. The strongest point is that you can easily manage a very complex UI, all you have to know is java and html and of course you have to be OOP friend.

There is nothing stopping you to create performant wicket web applications..
