Is it just me, or has the new Javalobby proven to be a significant step backwards? The old site was a Slashdot style discussion system with a pace very appropriate to the pace of news flowing from the Java community. The new site feels a lot like TheServerSide.Com from a few years ago. They've gone to a system where the frontpage is updated frequently (many times per day) and the content there is seldom interesting enough to attract any significant discussion.

The title and description imply that the new Javalobby sucks but the author says it doesn't. I like the "fresh links" and discussions on DZone but I prefer the old Javalobby. Do I vote up or down?

What can I say? I simply disagree :) We have people bemoaning the loss of all the great discussions, but some of the most vociferous complainers have posted 5X as much abut how bad it is than they ever posted in years of the old Javalobby. At least we seem to have spurred them into becomeing active in "community." (Always look on the bright side of life.)

Rick - I will agree with you, but not provide a vote on the story since so the display and styling is subjective to the user. While I personally like the redesign, some may not.
From my point of view, the worst thing that could happen is that no one comments. Reaction is always better than benign indifference, so I applaud the community you have created and the fact that your users are passionate enough about your services to voice their opinions - positive or negative
