Recent changes to IOS packaging indicate fundamental shifts in the way Cisco thinks about packaging their software to try and become more nimble. Unfortunately, their approach is based on proprietary management. It kinda reminds me of a response to a question posed to a Microsoft software product manager about their products portability, “Of course it’s portable, it runs on Windows 98 and Windows NT.”
