The Pragmatic Programmer is targeted at programmers who love what they do and want to be better at it. In fact, the first tip in the book is "Care About Your Craft." The idea being that if you don't enjoy developing software, you shouldn't be doing it. Be aware that to the authors, being a programmer doesn't mean just writing code.

Good Review. The books general topics make it a vital read. It is a bit dated and I would love to see it updated since their discovery of Ruby.

Required reading if you're interested in becoming a better programmer.

This book was published a long time ago, and the review seems a little late. This is one of my favorite books, and I think it should be a required read for all programmers. One friend that I introduced it to call it his "New Bible."

The book is great. Just as it sez, "pragmatic". No pointless ideology.

I might point out that it's a great read for product and project managers as well in the software industry.
