I have used Maven 1.1 and 2 for the last 1.5 years, but it always am boggled by the utter complexity of the tool. There are a lot of good aspects about Maven (dependency management, standard tasks etc) but these advantages don’t way up to all the problems. For example: If I want to create a war and an ear, I need to create multiple project. How stupid can you be?

Just adapt your process to Maven, not the other way round.

Not a good article, but some good comments at the end.

why should developers be forced to adapt their processes to a tool? surely a buld tool should be easy enough that you dont have to become an expert ina complex tool. maven is a demanding animal, and for those who suffer through it good luck. but Id rather not.
