I see it time and time again in comparisons of software products where one or more of the options is open source. Someone chimes in with a comment along the lines of: "Why pay for product X when I can get open source Y for free?".

The point of the article could be a bit more clear. The problem is that I see about two or three implied points both for and against both scenarios. Instead, maybe the article is about decision points of going one way or the other.
