Deep down inside every software developer, there's a budding graphic designer waiting to get out. And if you let that happen, you're in trouble. Or at least your users will be, anyway.

I have known both sorts of developers, those who can create good UI and those who can't... And to be fair to the dialog he shows in the article, it sounds like it was a development testing tool which got adopted in production...

I agree. I've met some developers that really have an eye for UI design, however they are a rare breed if you ask me.
In defense of the poor fellow responsible for wgetGUI, he does state "It is my first Visual Basic programme" even though he also claims it "gives you an easy to use Graphical User Interface."
