Why so many of these lists recently? It seems there's a similar list every week. Still, to me, the "perfect" programmer is simply someone who can get the job done. That should be all that matters.

You need "Perfect Programmers" when you have no established software development process and a clueless management. Therefore the high demand for 'gurus'.

The more use you make of design patterns, the less you're going to be refactoring code, is my opinion.
