I cant believe how cool JavaFX is. A fading Circle. Sweet! Yea, I'm laying on the sarcasm pretty thick here. I suppose the worst part is that he had to hand code all that.

Yes, it is pretty obvious that JavaFX Script is lacking tooling for design part, but don't blame Josh for showing some of the language features in such a short tutorial and choosing just a simple circle as a visual aid. It was just couple minutes show :). I myself found way better for showing something off then the demos applet on the new java plugin website. Those are really, really, ... colorul pieces of crap for eyes (the two at the bottom look better thou), but other than that and the fact new plugin was crashing FF3 and hoging CPU (I know that Java Update 10 is not released yet also) they show the potential of what can be done with technology (new APIs, new plugin, new hardware acceleration I believe). For now, if you'd like to actually draw something and have it displayed you can use SVG to JavaFX Script converter. I think one thing JavaFX Script needs is someone who could make a nice, eye candy, kickin' ass and original (no Adobe Flash/Flex/AIR app covers!) demos to show off how easy it is to create (design and develop) cool looking apps with it. Someone like Romain Guy (he is not an option, he would have made one already if it wasn't some damn easy to do it in JavaFX Script ;)!)
