The upcoming Netbeans 6.0 is compared to upcoming Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. A nice comparison about the next IDEs. Although they arent for the same target developers, its something that developers from both Java and C# gang want to look at. It'll make the next version of IDEs better.

Amusing. This post is very full of factual inaccuracies. For example: LINQ is not a language, but an addition to the .NET Framework, not sure why he was compelled to discuss it when he was supposed to be looking at the IDE's only.
He also did not touch on Visual Studios excellent and very powerful debugger, or its database table modeler and code generation using TableAdapters.
Or the fact that it has smart JavaScript intellisense, something that not even Aptana can do right.
Oh, and Visual Studio has an integrated design enviroment for Windows Mobile phone dev. So his post was incorrect when he said only NetBeans had a visual designer for phones.

There are a few factual inaccuracies in the post, but not the one's that you pointed out about LINQ, Javascript Intellisense & Windows Mobile Phone Dev. I'll explain how:
1.) I think the author talks about LINQ for the reason that Visual Studio supports LINQ in beta2 so well. Although its a framework (language) part, Visual Studio support is awesome. Now if you don't agree that LINQ "can be" called a language, then I think you dont consider XQuery to be a language as well ;-) For practical purposes, write a database application without a GUI using C# without LINQ and with LINQ. Try any code analyzer application, and it'll tell you that the codes don't mean the same!! LINQ adds such a vast difference to the C# lang, that it's worth calling it a diff lang although MS doesn't call it. Please do reply here your counter arguments about this.
2.) I quote from his site, "Both VS2008 and netBeans 6.0 have newer javascript debugger which is a happy relief to me since previously debugging javascript was a complete pain!!"
He says that "both" includes VS2008, has a good javascript debugger and I think he means the intellisense debugger!!
3.) Where did he say that only netBeans had a visual designer?? He said that the netBeans mobile designer is the simplest compared to others. And he must have not mentioned it since the mobile phone dev hasn't changed much in 2008 compared to 2005!!
I agree to you that he should have mentioned about the Visual Studio's excellent table modeller and code generator from TableAdapters
