Ever wonder how dzone.com create thumbnail to each of website you submit? Here is one way to do that.

We actually wrote a service of our own to do it. We wanted to keep multiple sizes and formats of the screenshot we captured, and we wanted to support all the major browser features. Ironically, since we moved dzone to a system running 64-bit Ubuntu linux we have not been able to use Flash. Adobe's Flash support on Linux is way below where it should be, although we hold out hope for the future. They claim to have Flash 9 coming for Linux next year. Better late than never, I guess.
