"Web applications are taking the place of desktop apps and the same is happening to our development tools as well." I use web apps only when I have to. The UX is still generally inferior when compared to a comparable native mobile or desktop client. I don't expect this to change anytime soon, since native SDKs are considerably more capable than HTML for building user interfaces.

I'll use those web apps when their code editors are as good as IntelliJ Idea.
