I read the cult pickaxe book and got very attracted to the language. I did not like Rails too much at the time, mostly because of the hype. C'mon, comparing a 4kloc framework having less then a dozen of features with the entire platform is a kind of... childish.

The String to Fixnum error in Ruby drives me insane, but this is probably the worst example of it I've ever seen. Better example would be:
puts "Test is my " + 1 + "st test."

Are you saying you don't like the fact Ruby works in this way, or the fact the error message is too subtle?

I'd be interested in reading valid complaints, but this is a case of the author not understanding the stack trace produced by a typo.
