It’s a question that I often find people asking and unfortunately there is no right or wrong answer as it can vary from site to site depending on the market and the types of users it attracts, however there are usually similarities that are consistent amongst users of the web.

Hi dzonelurker,

Are you realistically expecting to support Netscape 4 or IE3 with full CSS support?

I'd like to see an example of a site that does ;o)

Thanks for the link and to a certain extent I agree that we should support all browsers and all devices. However, what I'm looking at is creating a pixel perfect, aesthetically pleasing design and ensuring that it supports the browsers that are commonly used.

A website should always use valid, semantic HTML markup and then use CSS for the presentation which will ensure that the site becomes linearized for any users without CSS support and therefore should still be usable for everyone right back to the early browsers.

Hope that makes sense.
