When someone is attempting to promote their new language, invariably C++ is mentioned. The warts are mentioned, but rarely are it's benefits promoted. I thought it would be Groovy to Spring C++ with its Flashes of Perly insight back onto the Rails to Eclipse the Silverlight of knowledge at the end of the tunnel of Ruby.

I may agree with the article's author on the C++ points (which is also my language of choice). However, do not forget that the process of designing a language can be a very fun and instructive journey.
Just because we have tools that some find good enough it does not mean that we should stop exploring.
