When it came time to start putting code to paper at CrashCorp I was faced with the decision of choosing both a language and a platform. After 11 years of coding solely in PHP I’d grown tired of the language and, to some extent, the community (not the people, who are great, but the way the community is organized).

Rather superficial, but at least this guy has switched "after 11 years of coding solely in PHP".

It may be python is not designed by Comitee precisely because it hasn't reached the same scale of mass deployment. One benevolent dictature would then far from being enough.

Today is "Why I switched from PHP to Pyhton", and all the Python script kiddies vote up. Tomorrow "Why I switched from Python to PHP", and all the PHP script kiddies vote up.
Java programmers must be laughing like hell at us.
